Isaiah 1

v2-3 speaks to me about God's feelings. He compares Israel like his children whom he had brought up as best as He could, but they have rebelled against Him, they have turned away, gone astray. Imagine the heartache of parents who nurture and care for a child only to have him turn away and rebel against them.
The Lord says, even the ox knows his owner...but Israel does not know, they do not understand...This is the pain that God goes through...
As a parent, I can identify with that pain. We give our all to our children, no expenses spared, we smoothen their paths, correct their ways, soothe their pains..but in the end, they rebel and turn away from us. They misunderstand us. That would indeed be sad.
The other comparisons used are an ox and the ass. One is known for its stubbornness and the other its stupidity. Even the ox knows its owner and the ass will not refuse food offered to him. But we are too dumb and too stubborn to acknowledge our Maker. We sometimes reject the ownership and sustaining power of God and insist on going our own way
